On the 21st of October 2023, OVE embarked on our first LCIP volunteering session at Nanyang Community Centre for their Halloween Event, where we were tasked to fulfill the roles of zombies and scare actors in the 2 main attractions: Zombie Tag and Haunted House.
Our day started off with putting on scary makeup that resembled zombies, while some donned a spooky costume that resembled different urban legends. Moreover, the venue was transformed into a grisly wonderland, with cobwebs and eerie lighting creating a haunting atmosphere. As such, we were both a mix of excitement and nerves when getting into character.
The laughter, screams and wide-eyed wonder of both kids and adults were infectious. Though we hoped that we could have interacted with the participants more when we were out of character, it was still heartwarming to see the community gathering together for this event.
It was definitely a new and interesting experience for many of us! We had so much fun that we didn’t realise how much time had passed. We hope that we were able to make the days of the participants as much as they made ours and we are excited for many more volunteering sessions as OVE!
