It was a strange sense of deja vu wearing back our YEP shirts for August LCIP. They have been with us through typhoons, sweat, and soil, and once again they will bring us through our last local volunteering session.
This time, we wanted to plan our last LCIP around Project Kapwa, given the deep impression it left on all of us.
To give some background, we started by bashfully presenting what we did in Pangasinan, from the lessons and construction to the not-so-serious moments during homestay. Some of the nurses were also Filipino, hence it was a more lively session than usual!
We created Filipino cuisine-inspired bingo, coloured and decorated templates of iconic Filipino symbols like jeepneys and the Jollibee mascot, and built a traditional star craft with the elderly. Throughout the activity, we explained the relation of the crafts to the activities we participated in during Project Kapwa. It was a great end to a great journey.
It has been a good run. But that's not the last you'll be hearing from us - look out for some familiar faces appearing soon :)
Logging off,
