OVE kicked off our summer holidays with a refreshing change of pace with our very first beach cleanup!

For many of us, including Bryan, this was the first time participating in a beach cleanup. “This LCIP was my first time doing beach cleaning and was definitely different from the types of volunteering that I do,” he shared. “Through this experience, I realised how meaningful volunteering for the environment is and how much human activity is actually affecting our natural habitats like the beaches. Cleaning beaches with our members was also very rewarding as it was a good, slow pace activity where we could enjoy our time together while doing a good deed. I’ll definitely go for more beach cleanups if future opportunities arise.”

Despite the heat, we did our best to clear the trash in our assigned area. Deborah reflected, “Although we only managed to clear a few bags worth of trash, a small part goes a long way. I hope our beaches can be kept clean with everyone playing their part.”

The day ended on a high note with a well-deserved lunch and a fun cycling session. We’re glad to have contributed, even in a small way, to preserving our public spaces and environment! ☀️
