2 weeks ago, we had the privilege of spending a meaningful day at Sree Narayana Mission Home, where we connected with the elderlies through simple yet heartfelt moments of companionship. The session began with us getting to know the residents—sharing conversations, listening to their stories, and spending time simply being present with them.
As the day went on, the atmosphere grew livelier with games like bingo and other interactive activities that brought out plenty of smiles, laughter, and friendly competitiveness. We ended the session on a high note with karaoke, singing along together and cheering one another on, turning the room into a space filled with warmth and joy.
Volunteering days like this remind us why we choose to show up, not just to help but to genuinely connect. Spending time with the residents made us realise that companionship can be meaningful. Sometimes what people need most is simply someone who is willing to listen, laugh with them and make them feel seen. It also reminded us not to take our own everyday routines for granted and to be more intentional about giving our time to others. Leaving Sree Narayana Mission Home, we felt grateful, humbled and even more motivated to keep serving, because small moments of presence can create a big sense purpose and belonging.
