To kickstart the new year, we visited Bright hill Evergreen Elderly Home to bring some festive cheer for the elderlies. There were various planned activities for them such as Chinese New Year themed stamp painting and “What’s in the Box”.
Although there were slight difficulties in communication since some elderly residents spoke only in dialect, those next to them helped translate, allowing us all to enjoy the games together.
Lydia’s greatest takeaway for was witnessing how the elderly, even with their physical challenges, could still find joy and connect with others. Being able to see how our efforts brightened their day was worth every second planning the activities for them, making it truly meaningful to her.
This experience left us feeling grateful and uplifted, and we look forward to more chances to bring joy to elderly residents at nursing homes.
