Singapore Botanical Gardens Metta Home Outing

To celebrate the great year that we had with our Metta Home friends, we brought them to Singapore Botanical Gardens as we thought that it would be the perfect place for them to do pressed flower art whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery and getting a breath of fresh air!

It was a rainy day with occasional drizzles so we brought them into the pavilions to get some shelter. We then proceeded to start our first activity, pressed flower art! The original plan was to let the beneficiaries collect their own flowers from the garden but we were unable to do so because of the rain. Instead, we used flowers and leaves that we had collected beforehand. Before we started, most of us had to google examples of pressed flower art to show to the beneficiaries. Together with them, we tried to replicate some of the examples that they liked, or even came up with original pieces!

After we had completed the art pieces and recharged our energy with a tea break, we headed out of the pavilion for a walk around the garden! It was refreshing and mind opening to see our beneficiaries get excited at things that we would usually have taken for granted, like the black swans floating on the lake, random roosters or pretty flowers.

We also celebrated the birthdays of our December babies with a delicious chocolate cake! All in all, it was a wonderful experience and we can't wait for the next outdoor session! Here's to a greater 2018 with Metta Home!
