3rd of February marks another day for our Metta Home visit. This time round, we tried to bring our fellow residents some cheer by celebrating the upcoming Chinese New Year with them!
Armed with red packets, decorative accessories and scissors, our OVE members were warmly welcomed by the residents. Having been regularly visiting Metta Home, both the residents and our OVE members are becoming closer than ever. No longer did we have the anxiousness we first felt, nor the apprehension of the unknown. Now, it's just us and our new found friends!
Accompanied with pop CNY music, the residents and our OVE members spent the afternoon making CNY decorations out of Angpaos. From fish motifs to dogs and then to lanterns and Chinese paper drums, the atmosphere was uplifting and cheery!
But, when things got a little repetitive, several OVE members initiated other angpao-made decorations. We ended up having angpao flowers, angpao handbags and particularly, angpao lanterns which were a hit among the residents.
Like always, time passed really quickly and it was time to bid our goodbyes. We hope we successfully brought some lunar new year cheer to our residents and to all of you out there, HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!!! 新年快乐!!!
