On the 17th of August, we collaborated with Beyond Social Services for our final OVE outing after our main trip in Cambodia, which ended 2 weeks before. It was an early morning where both our OVE team and children from Henderson neighbourhood gathered.
We started the session by interacting with the children. They had to complete a worksheet that consisted of sections related to recycling. The children enjoyed the company of our members as they work together to complete the worksheet and our team explained to them the reasons for recycling.
Next, we proceeded on with the decoration of the potted succulent plants. The children had to use the recycled plastic bottles provided to beautify the plants. Our members also helped the children in colouring and painting of the plant’s pot. After all of the arts and craft was done, our members and the children went to pass the elderly service users of Thye Hua Kwan Senior Activity Centre one of the potted plants that they each have decorated. The elderly service users were showing big smiles and they were thankful for the potted plants that were given to them. It was a day full of joy and laughter as we ended our last OVE’19 session with a group photo.
